Brenda Song says that after her now-fiancé Macaulay Culkin clued her in on the “behind-the-scenes stories” of his iconic 1990 film, Home Alone, it “ruined” the movie for her.

Song, 36, appeared on the Thursday, March 13, episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show to promote her Netflix series Running Point.

Song — who danced through the show’s Spirit Tunnel to a modified version of the Suite Life of Zack & Cody theme song, a nod to her early role — said that when she started dating Culkin, now 44, she proposed the idea of watching the film during the holiday season.

“Christmastime came around — and it’s a tradition, I’ve always watched Home Alone every Christmas,” Song said. “He hadn’t seen the movie in almost a decade — he didn’t want to watch it — and I forced it. I was like, ‘We have to.’ ”

Song continued: “We started watching it. And he started telling me all the behind-the-scenes stories. And I was like, ‘Stop. Stop. You’re ruining it for me.’ ”

“The movie holds such a special place in obviously so many people’s hearts, it’s just hard for me, that’s all,” Song added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Song said she had to teach fiancé Culkin how to do laundry after they started dating eight years ago — and that she also tried to teach him how to drive.

“I always say Mac is a very unique human, being the most famous child actor in the world,” Song said. “He lived and grew up in hotels, he had just never really done laundry, and I was shooketh. I have been doing laundry since I was a baby, I feel like. I’ve been doing laundry since I was 10 helping my mom.”

“It’s funny, teaching him how to do laundry, he still doesn’t know how to drive,” she added. “I took him out to drive in our neighborhood; I was terrified, let me tell you. This 44-year-old man driving for the first time? I gotta hire someone to do that.”

The couple — who met in 2014 while at mutual friend Seth Green’s house — welcomed a son in 2021 and got engaged less than a year later.

While talking to Access Hollywood in March 2023, Kieran Culkin confirmed that his brother and Song had quietly welcomed their second child.
